About our services and doggy daycare.
01
What is the interview process all about?
We like the interviews to last at least one hour to give us time to get to know your dog and to give your dog time to realize that you have left and -- most importantly -- to be excited to see you when you come to pick them up. At Canine Castle, the initial interview day is always free. The interview usually consists of us leading your dog into a separate play area or "interview area" where our Counselors will spend a little time getting to know your dog and checking to see how your dog interacts with people. At this time, the Camp Counselor will also look your dog over for any possible issues such as fleas and ticks and for any existing injuries that may worsen when playing with other dogs.
Other dogs will be introduced into the interview area one at a time in order to see how your dog interacts with other dogs. After our counselors are comfortable with your dog, with your dog's reactions to other dogs, and are confident that your dog feels secure in the environment - then they will be introduced into the play area to assess group behaviour. Please be aware that if we do have issues with your dog during the interview process, we may need to contact you to come pick them up early.
02
What do I bring to Canine Castle?
- Please bring food and pack enough for the duration of your stay. Supplying a little bit extra always helps.
- Medication/Vitamins
- Make sure your dog is wearing a collar
- Updated vaccination records
- We have beds and sleeping blankets, but if your pet prefers something, you may bring it, just understand that it may get ruined by other guests
- A favourite snack or treat if they prefer
- We supply toys and play things. Please do not bring a toy as it encourages possessive behaviour
03
What if my dog gets sick or injured?
Although we do our best to minimize any injury to your dog, during normal play a dog may get small scratches, nicks, and lose small patches of fur. Although rare, it is possible for more serious injuries to occur.
We quickly assess the situation to determine what plan of action to take. Our concern is always what is best for our Canine Royalty. Depending on the situation, we will either rush the Prince or Princess to the closest vet or, in non-emergency situations, we will make the effort to take them to their own vet. We always try to contact the owner to get their permission for our chosen course of action.

Are there nap times?
For our overnight campers, we require a mid-day nap. Many of our day Royalty enjoy a mid-day nap as well, but it is not required. Please work with your counsellor to make sure you discuss your dog's needs.
05
Should I feed my dog before Canine Castle?
It is best to have your dog eat a minimum of 1.5 hours prior to coming to Camp to prevent bloat. Bloat can be caused from playing too soon after eating and can be harmful. If your dog ate less than 1.5 hours before coming to Camp, please let one of the Camp Counselors know for the safety and well being of your pet.
